Who it's for
Dev and production drift apart over time — different dependency versions, missing environment variables, schema changes that never made it to staging. The classic "it works on my machine" problem is really an environment parity problem, and small differences often cause big outages only after code has already shipped.
ParityCheck is built for platform engineers and DevOps teams who need visibility across dev, staging, and production; developers who want to catch config drift before release; and teams running CI/CD pipelines who need automated checks instead of manual environment comparisons.
What it does
ParityCheck follows a simple three-step workflow — collect, compare, and alert.
Run the envguard CLI in each environment to gather OS details, runtime versions, dependencies, environment variables, and a database schema hash. Compare locally on the command line or push reports to the SaaS dashboard for visual parity reports and historical trends.
When drift is detected, get notified through Slack, email, or webhooks — before mismatches reach production. The CLI runs anywhere: local machines, CI runners, and containers. Install with pip, collect a baseline from dev, compare prod against it, and push results to the dashboard with your API key when you want team-wide visibility.

Why it matters
ParityCheck turns invisible environment drift into actionable diffs — added, removed, and changed keys at a glance. Teams ship with more confidence because dependency mismatches, config gaps, and schema divergence surface early instead of during incidents.
With a free tier, CLI-first workflow, and CI/CD integrations for GitHub Actions, GitLab CI, and scheduled cron jobs, parity checks fit into existing delivery pipelines without heavy setup.
Technologies used
Lessons learned
Environment parity is a continuous practice, not a one-time audit. Making collection easy (CLI anywhere) and comparison visible (dashboard + alerts) is what turns drift detection from a manual chore into something teams actually run before every release.
Questions about this project
What does ParityCheck compare across environments?
ParityCheck compares OS and runtime details, dependency versions, environment variables, and database schema hashes — surfacing added, removed, and changed keys between environments.
How do I get started?
Install the envguard CLI with pip, run envguard collect in each environment, then envguard compare to diff them. Push reports to the SaaS dashboard with envguard report and your API key.
Does ParityCheck work in CI/CD?
Yes. Run envguard on a schedule or in GitHub Actions, GitLab CI, or cron jobs to detect drift automatically and receive alerts when environments fall out of sync.
Is there a free tier?
Yes. ParityCheck offers a free tier so teams can start monitoring environment parity without a credit card.
Where can I try ParityCheck?
