Who it's for
bank and M-Pesa statements arrive as PDFs that are easy to read but painful to work with in spreadsheets, accounting software, or custom reconciliation workflows. Copy-pasting transaction lines is slow, error-prone, and does not scale when you need clean data every month.
StatementsConverter is built for individuals cleaning up personal statements or preparing taxes, small businesses reconciling M-Pesa and bank activity without manual data entry, and teams that need repeatable exports — including programmatic conversion through a REST API for developer workflows.
What it does
Upload your statement PDF from the web app. The service reads the PDF in the background and pulls out transactions automatically — no manual line-by-line entry.
You get a preview with basic insights so you can check that dates, amounts, and descriptions look right before you export. Download the result in the format you need: CSV for spreadsheets, Excel for finance teams, or JSON for apps and scripts.
Exports use credits — you start with a free credit when you register. Subscriptions can unlock higher limits for heavy use. Payments are handled with M-Pesa (Safaricom), so topping up or subscribing fits how many people already pay online.

Why it matters
StatementsConverter removes the busywork of retyping PDF statements and delivers structured data ready for spreadsheets, accounting tools, tax preparation, and internal reporting. M-Pesa billing lowers friction for users, while credits and subscriptions align cost with how much you actually convert.
Whether you reconcile once a month or process statements at scale through the API, the outcome is the same: accurate transaction data in the format your workflow already uses.
Technologies used
Lessons learned
Statement conversion is as much about trust as extraction — previews, clear limits, and familiar local payments (M-Pesa) matter when users are handling sensitive financial data. A tiered fair-use model keeps the service accessible for trials while supporting power users through registration and subscription.
Questions about this project
What file formats can I export?
You can download converted statements as CSV, Excel, or JSON — whichever fits your spreadsheet, accounting tool, or automated workflow.
How do credits and subscriptions work?
Exports use credits. New registrations include a free credit to try the service. Subscriptions unlock higher or unlimited page limits for frequent conversion, depending on deployment configuration.
Can I convert statements programmatically?
Yes. StatementsConverter includes a REST API for teams that need repeatable, automated conversion outside the web app.
How are usage limits enforced?
Limits are based on PDF pages processed in a rolling 24-hour window. Guests get a small trial allowance; registered users receive a higher daily allowance; subscribers can access much higher or unlimited limits.
How do I pay for credits or a subscription?
Payments are handled with M-Pesa (Safaricom), so topping up or subscribing matches how many users already pay for digital services.
